“Cyclone
Aila”
It was the second tropical cyclone of the 2009 season. It was created by the tidal surge of the Bay of Bengal. Aila violently hit 14 districts in the southwestern parts of Bangladesh and West Bengal in India on 25th May 2009.
The coastal areas of Bangladesh were largely
damaged by Aila. It was more serious than Cyclone Aila. The cyclone ‘Aila’
broke all the records of the past. It had caused great damage to crops,
property, and wild animals. Houses, cattle, and other animals have washed away.
Trees were uprooted and roads and crops were gone underwater. Thousands of
people became homeless, shelterless, foodless, and clothless.
Many people and wild
animals died. Our government took proper steps to help the affected people. The
government also wanted help from foreign countries. They have also extended
their help. During Aila, both people and young students helped the affected
people in many ways.
In fact, Aila was a
terrible cyclone. The people of our
country will never forget it.
